The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially cancelled the No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for pacer Mustafizur Rahman for the remainder of PSL 2026. The decision, announced on April 23, 2026, follows a medical review by the BCB staff after the final ODI against New Zealand. Rehman returned from his initial PSL stint with a knee issue that forced him to sit out the first two ODIs against New Zealand. While he returned for the third ODI and took a match-winning five-wicket haul, the board's medical team ordered immediate scans to prevent a long-term breakdown.

He was granted an NOC in two phases; the second phase (April 24 to May 3) has now been revoked to keep him under direct BCB supervision for a formal rehab program. Mustafizur was a "direct signing" for Lahore Qalandars for approximately USD 230,000. His withdrawal, alongside other key Bangladeshi bowlers, has significantly impacted several teams.

The BCB is prioritizing two critical upcoming series over franchise cricket, which is a two-match series against Pakistan starting May 8 in Dhaka. While Mustafizur is primarily a white-ball specialist, the board wants all senior pacers available for rotation. The Qalandars and the league as a whole are reeling from multiple Bangladeshi withdrawals. Young pacer Nahid Rana (Peshawar Zalmi) was also recalled for Test prep, while Taskin Ahmed is being rested for workload management.

PSL caught in turmoil with multiple injuries across tournament

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 is currently facing a massive player availability crisis as injuries, international recalls, and the overlapping IPL 2026 schedule have depleted squad rosters. The turmoil has reached a peak with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) revoking Mustafizur Rahman's NOC just yesterday due to a knee injury.

Lahore Qalandars have faced a double blow, losing Hussain Talat to a dislocated shoulder requiring three months of recovery and seeing Mustafizur Rahman’s NOC cancelled by the BCB due to an underlying knee injury that requires immediate rehabilitation. Rawalpindiz were further weakened early on when Zaman Khan dislocated his shoulder (AC joint) during domestic play, an injury that kept him out for the entire tournament. In the heat of the competition,

Quetta Gladiators' Ahmed Daniyal was rushed to the hospital after a severe hamstring pull while running between wickets, while Islamabad United had a brief scare with Mir Hamza, who required hospitalisation for a head blow during practice but has since been cleared.
