Are our lives so defunct or insular that we need to constantly be on the lookout of someone popular or significant even if that means a legend especially where it comes to social media world to stay relevant? With thesr thoughts we begin another cricketing story that’s less about the musings of the bat and ball as seen recently and more about a dramatic saga that took place ij the realm of social media. In the confusing and at times, bewildering world of social media, there is hardly ever a moment where all seems quiet or normal as instant comments to sometimes reactionary and dramatic posts are far to common to spot. The level of unsettling content that seems to, therefore, spring to life is absurd at times. And the same rule applies to- and is no stranger to- the world of cricket.
Ever thought about it?
So as it turns out, very recently something utterly not so smart and unnecessary took place with noted and widely admired Australian cricketer David Warner. Yes, you read that right. David Warner of all cricketers!

What happened was that Warner, who happens to be a phenomenal achiever on the cricket field, someone who besides striking a famous triple hundred in Test match cricket, also went on to command headlines for his batting brilliance in the famous world of the IPL, was made uncomfortable. At least d that was the attempt on the part of a totally useless fan attempt to rile up a cricketer who hadn’t even been interacting as such.
So what was said to David Warner
A fan said on a widely popular social media platform that he - Warner - must return to the Indian Premier League and not play the PSL.
Of course, it’s already a common fact and one widely known that Warner did take a mid season break from the Pakistan Super League and went back to his native country, Australia.
Add to the this the well established and widely known fact that Warner is no longer participating in the Indian Premier League and has perhaps already switched his mind from the famous franchise based white ball league.
Then, in response to the so called fan’s comment, the famous left handed Australian replied that “there is no need for that” alluding to the fact that he found no need or merit in returning back to something he had already signed off from. And perhaps that’s the most sensible explanation to offer in the first place as a response - isn’t it?
And that’s all there was to it from David Warner’s side
No drama. Nothing that he hyped. No hate speech. Not even a word in addition to the simple response that “there is no need for it now (to return back to the world of the IPL).
Perhaps Warner simply wished for there to be no drama and no hype. No needles talks whatsoever. But sadly the fan may not have had the intelligence to wield such mental alertness in the first place as he would not have resorted to his comment that was, as one would note, in an unpleasant taste.
What do you reckon?
