Deepti Sharma has cemented her place as one of cricket’s greatest legends by reaching 354 international wickets. She crossed the historic 350-wicket milestone on June 14, 2026. She did this during India's 64-run victory against Pakistan in Birmingham. Deepti entered the ICC Women's T20 World Cup match against Pakistan sitting on 349 international wickets. She did not waste any time making history.
In her very first two overs, she took two quick wickets for just five runs. This officially pushed her past the 350 mark. She finished the match with stunning figures of 5 wickets for 10 runs. This spell became the best-ever bowling performance by an Indian player in Women's T20 World Cup history.Every other bowler near her rank relies on fast bowling. Deepti is the first spin bowler to reach 350 wickets across Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals.
She is only the second Indian woman to cross this mark. She now sits just two wickets behind the iconic Jhulan Goswami, who holds the all-time world record with 355 wickets. Deepti already holds the record as the overall highest wicket-taker in Women’s T20 International history, having previously passed Australia’s Megan Schutt.
This milestone adds to a legendary run for the 28-year-old all-rounder. She was the star of the show during India's historic 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup triumph. In that tournament, she became the first cricketer ever, male or female,to score over 200 runs and take more than 20 wickets in a single World Cup. She capped it off with a 5-wicket haul in the 2025 final to win the Player of the Tournament award.
India rises to second on points table, defeats Pakistan in World Cup opener
India's explosive batting innings set the stage for a historic victory against Pakistan. Opening batswoman Smriti Mandhana led the charge by scoring a brilliant 68 runs. She teamed up with Shafali Verma to give India a fast, rock-solid start at the top of the order. Pakistan tried to slow down the scoring in the middle overs, but India kept attacking.
Hard-hitting wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh played a spectacular cameo at the very end. She smashed 34 runs off just 17 balls to destroy the Pakistan bowling attack. Her late power-hitting pushed India’s final score to a massive 170 runs. This became India's highest-ever team total against Pakistan in Women's T20 World Cup history.
Pakistan's batting lineup collapsed under immense pressure while chasing India's massive target. They started their chase with an aggressive approach, hoping to match India's fast run rate. However, India's star spin bowler, Deepti Sharma, completely tore through their batting lineup.
Pakistan's top and middle-order batswomen had no answers for Deepti’s lethal spin bowling. The team suffered a dramatic batting collapse, losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Nida Dar tried to fight back and steady the ship, but she lacked support from the other side. The entire Pakistan team was bundled out for a meager 106 runs. This resulted in a heavy 64-run defeat in their tournament opener.
