The Income Tax Department's official disclosure on Thursday by Dr D. Sudhakar Rao, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, confirms that MS Dhoni remains the benchmark for financial compliance and individual wealth generation in Eastern India. The Income Tax Department collected a total of ₹20,000 crore from the combined states during FY26. Dhoni’s income profile has evolved from a professional athlete salary into a diversified corporate conglomerate model. Rather than relying on flat commercial fees, Dhoni owns significant startup equity stakes that yield major dividend pay-outs. Dhoni controls a primary equity stake in his parent talent-scouting and management agency, Rhithi Sports Management.
He also holds prominent investor stakes in companies like Khatabook, Cars24, and the interior design startup HomeLane. He also operates a direct equity partnership in the activewear lifestyle brand SEVEN. Dhoni actively manages a portfolio of over 40 brand ambassador partnerships. Due to his mass-market appeal across tier-2 and tier-3 Indian cities, his retention fee remains locked at an estimated ₹4 crore to ₹7 crore per shoot day for mega-brands like Oreo, Gulf Oil, and India Cements. At his 43-acre Eeja Farmhouse located in Ranchi, Dhoni has commercialised high-tech organic farming. The facility handles large-scale distribution of premium dairy products, fruits, and vegetables to domestic markets, functioning as an independent local revenue hub.

MS Dhoni steps away from CSK squad to not disturb winning combo
MS Dhoni’s ongoing absence from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) playing XI in IPL 2026 has evolved from a pure medical issue into a tactical and psychological decision. While his recovery from a pre-season calf strain remains the foundation of his sidelining, team officials and media trackers have detailed a multi-layered rationale behind his choice to stay away from the active squad. Reports from The Indian Express and statements by CSK batting coach Michael Hussey reveal that Dhoni is deliberately holding back to protect the team's operational environment.
CSK has built positive momentum around the tournament's mid-way point. Inserting Dhoni now would require altering a settled batting order and benching a younger, in-form middle-order player. Dhoni expressed explicit concern to the team management that his presence in the dugout on matchdays acts as a massive media and crowd distraction.
