One of the most dramatic post-final developments that has come of light features none other than the Gujarat Titans, the very team that emerged as the runners up in the IPL 2026 edition. So the big question is what really happened and why is it creating such a stir? Well, apparently, all the players of Gujarat Titans, including the Sport staff survived a heroine nightmare that very nearly could have been, and had that been the case it could have cost dismay all over. Well, the players of Gujarat Titans actually had a lucky escape given a scuffle with regard to their vehicle that was transporting them back once the grand IPL finale for 2026 was over.
Their bus (the bus carrying the GT players) suffered from a sudden short circuit that could have become the horrific nightmare that none would have ever wanted. And rightly so!
The night that you could say began on a difficult note further went a few notches toward mortal danger and possible scare. So in a sense it went from bad to worse.
What really happened there was the team in which the Shubman Gill led team were travelling suffered from a sudden short circuit. That was when the bus was returning from the celebrated Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday night after the IPL final had been completed. This sudden occurrence left the players stranded on the road for nearly an hour.
But not long after the short circuit transpired all the players were fully and safely evacuated from the bus. And no harm in any which way came their way. Which meant the players were absolutely out of harm’s way.
However, that being said and truth be told, the last few days of their IPL campaign had been rather difficult for the famed Gujarat Titans side. Now, one might say is that because they lost the high octane final event? Not entirely. That and more!
As soon as the team had arrived at the city of Ahmedabad, which was ahead of the final- that the contest was delayed due to poor weather conditions across north-western India. Even their arrival to the ground was marked by difficult times. How so? Owing to heavy rainfall, their chartered flight had been delayed by as many as 3 hours and it wasn’t before late Saturday that the entire team arrived to play the final, which was scheduled for Sunday.
But on the whole, you have to give it to the Gujarat Titans for the competitiveness and class with which they contested during much of the IPL season. It is one thing to qualify for an IPL final and another thing to challenge the daring RCB, which is what Gujarat Titans- at least - attempted to the best of their abilities. Yes, they faltered in the mega final, just when they would not have wanted to do so, but that is how Cricket plays out. It’s the ebbs and flows of the game that defines it.
