Scoring well over North of 700 runs and emerging as the best batter on the whole in just the second season of his IPL career meant that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is here to stay. And not just that- he’s here to destroy and slay bowling attacks for as long as he bats. Now, in the last two games, in particular, where several calm and thinking minds of his Rajasthan Royals’ side collapsed with the bat, hardly troubling the bowlers- the left hander hit two solid composed and resilient innings. On both occasions, starring with the bat as if he was playing a lone vigil. On both occasions he came desperately close to hitting IPL hundreds. Forgot not that he already has one against his name and a rather exquisite one at that!

But what all of that seems to have done is that it has brought upon fresh sense of focus on the way the young kid bats and goes about composing his innings. It has gained him to greater attention than before, one could say.

And recently, none other than the great Lalit Modi, a man widely debated, perhaps a polarising figure of the sport was asked about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during an interview podcast show. The end result being some passionate and positive responses in a typical Lalit Modi style.

That said, first and foremost the most passionate part of the electrifying response to the interviewer that came from Mr Lalit Modi’s side happened to highlight the catastrophic fame and popularity that the man from Rajathan believes Sooryavanshi is about to touch-

“ I promise you, you will be the number one Super star on the planet. You’ll be bigger than any Hollywood, Bollywood name.”

The interviewer then highlighted the fact that one of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s biggest ambition is that he wants to hit a double century in T20 cricket and that youngsters today want to focus on T20 cricket and franchise cricket rather than playing Test cricket .

Now, to this, Lalit Modi had a response and would say, “I am looking forward to that day!”

On the subject of the cricketers’ aspiration, Mr Modi would react “It’s as simple as that. Soccer players do the same thing. 100% it’s a good thing. You may hate me or love me for it. I don’t care. This is the future. Nobody talks about playing for the United States Basketball team. They want to play for the NBA. Nobody talks about playing for England first and not for Man City first.”

He would further draw highlight to his point by sharing that… “(what he said) That is going to be the order of the day. Get real. Get on with it. It is going to happen.”

And here’s what is the most interesting part of what was a passionate and bold interaction on the part of Mr Lalit Modi. He seemed to throw his entire weight behind the young leftie and shared the following with respect to Sooryavanshi’s aim of hitting a 200 in T20 cricket -

“You will do it. You will hit a 200. I promise you. If you don’t let money get into your head, you will become the #1 superstar on the planet bigger than any other star.”
