Hasan Mahmud is one of Bangladesh's talented fast bowlers and has gradually become an important part of their pace attack across formats. Born on October 12, 1999, in Lakshmipur, he made his international debut in 2020 and has since represented Bangladesh in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Right arm pacer Hasan Mahmud recorded his country's best Test figures against Australia with figures of 6/55 as Bangladesh's pacers made the most of the conditions to bowl Australia out for 198 in 53 overs on Day 1. Mahmud came through Bangladesh's age-group system representing Chattogram at Under-16 level before progressing to the Bangladesh Under-19 side.

He was part of Bangladesh's squad at the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup. He made his first-class debut for Chittagong Division in the 2017-18 National Cricket League and his List A debut for Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity in 2018. He later entered franchise cricket, beginning with Dhaka Platoon in the Bangladesh Premier League. Over the years, he has represented several BPL teams, including Gemcon Khulna, Rangpur Riders, Khulna Tigers and Noakhali Express. He was also part of Bangladesh's gold-medal-winning team at the 2019 South Asian Games.

International Career

Mahmud made his T20I debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe in Mirpur on March 11, 2020. His ODI debut followed against the West Indies in January 2021, while his Test debut came against Sri Lanka on March 30, 2024. He has also featured for Bangladesh at major international tournaments, including the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Major Records and Achievements

Mahmud's first major international five-wicket haul came against Ireland in an ODI in March 2023, when he returned figures of 5/32. In Test cricket, he claimed his maiden five-wicket haul against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in August 2024, finishing with 5/43. He also took 5/83 against India in Chennai in 2024. His biggest Test performance so far came against Australia in Darwin in August 2026. Mahmud returned career-best figures of 6/55 as Bangladesh bowled Australia out for 198 on the opening day. The performance was reported as the third-best figures by a Bangladeshi pace bowler in Test cricket and the best Test figures by a Bangladesh bowler against Australia.
