Days after the Chennai Super Kings’ official social media handle confirmed, MS Dhoni’s injury. The CEO of the franchise has come up with another big update. Talking to Revsportz, the CEO confirmed the injury and also revealed that Dhoni has not travelled with the team to Guwahati. CSK’s CEO, Kai Vishwanathan, revealed that Dhoni might have picked up the injury just ahead of the season and that his absence might be a big blow for the Yellow team.

"Thala picked up a calf injury during our training on 22 March, I think. He will be out for two weeks or so. He hasn’t travelled with the team & is recuperating in Chennai. His absence is a blow," CSK CEO said while speaking to RevSportz.

Vishwanathan also confirmed that Sanju would be keeping the wickets for the team in their first match against the Rajasthan Royals. The CEO emphasised the team would miss Dhoni’s advice ahead of their match in Guwahati. He also said that the veteran player is recovering in Chennai itself.

Giving updates on the team’s preparation before the match, the CEO praised Samson’s form and his performance in the nets was called great by him. Vishwanathan also talked about the love the wicketkeeper has already been receiving before the matches have even started, and the crowd’s welcome to their local boy. He emphasised Sanju’s importance for the morale boost of the team in the absence of their former captain.

CSK will play their first match of the tournament against the Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati on March 30. This would be the first time after the auction, where Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson would play against their former teams. Chennai Super Kings will continue with Ruturaj Gaikwad as their captain, while RR will look forward to the tournament under the leadership of their new skipper, Riyan Parag.
