The 33- year old player, Shashank Singh, who was picked by the PBKS management in the 2024 auction and from then has consistently proven himself in every knock, talked about the team’s hunger to win the trophy this year. PBKS emerged as the runners-up for the 2025 IPL final, where the trophy was won by RCB under the leadership of Rajat Patidar.

Singh, who played till the last ball of the innings to win the match for his team, failed to do so even while scoring 61 runs in 30 balls. Shashank was bought by the management ahead of the 2024 auction, but his performance of scoring 354 runs across 14 matches, his highest being 68 not out against KKR.

Ahead of the 2025 Mega auction, Singh was one of the only two players retained by the management, along with Prabhsimran Singh. Bought at a base price of just 20 Lakhs, Shashank was retained at 5.5 Crores before the mega auctions.

During a media conference video, posted by JioHotstar on their YouTube channel, Singh was seen talking to the media professionals, where, when he was asked about the hunger for the trophy, he replied by saying that the hunger for the trophy is very much there and whenever he team meets, during camps or even during practise sessions they only talk about winning the trophy, they came so close to last season.

After being retained in 2025, Singh made a total of 350 runs in 14 innings, with his best being the 61 not out against RCB in the finals.

Will Shashank score big this year?

Shashank was retained by the management once again this year; he got out cheaply to the GT bowlers in the Kings’ debut match for this tournament.

The Kings will now face the Super Kings in their clash in Chepauk on April 3. It would be interesting to see the combination CSK brings this time, as Dewald Brewis is now ruled out of the IPL.
