What a brilliant game of cricket we have had at the Wankhede Stadium so far. India have set one foot into the final of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after setting a target of 254 against England. With this India have now recorded the highest total in a knockout game in the history of the T20 World Cup.
It was a superb batting performance from in the Blue with contributions coming in from almost every player. Sanju Samson kicked off proceedings in style and capitalised on his lifeline after being dropped and went on to score 89 runs in just 42 balls. He formed a 97 partnership with Ishan Kishan and laid a strong foundation for India.
The Indian batters stood up to the occasion when it mattered the most and put together a total beyond England’s imagination in such a high-stakes fixture. Ishan Kishan scored 39 with a strike rate of above 200 and then in came Shivam Dube who smashed the bowlers out of the park with his humungous sixes.

The projected score was around 240 for the majority of the game, but the Indian batting lineup dared to do the unthinkable and breached the 250 mark for the second time in the competition. The first time they did it was against Zimbabwe during the Super 8 round back in February. While this is the highest total in a knockout game of the T20 World Cup, India’s tally of 253/7 stands as the fourth highest total in the history of the competition.
