India’s mixed disability team celebrated a historic moment at Lord’s as they beat England by two wickets. This was the third match of their seven-game T20I series. The celebration on the balcony was reminiscent of Sourav Ganguly’s iconic 2002 celebration. After completing the chase, members of the Indian side climbed onto the balcony, removed their shirts and waved them in celebration. The Bengal cricketer had famously celebrated India’s NatWest Trophy triumph at Lord’s by waving his shirt from the same balcony, and the latest celebration gave the venue another memorable moment.
Batting first, India posted 206 for four, their highest total of the seven-match series. Arjun Gawre led the charge with a brilliant 68 off 44 balls, while captain Majid Magray produced a stunning late assault, smashing an unbeaten 63 from just 19 deliveries. Sai Akash also made a valuable contribution as India set England a daunting target. England never got close in the chase and were bowled out for 88. Hilal Ahmad Wani starred with 4/21, while Jayesh Parmar claimed 3/14, completing a comprehensive 118-run victory. It was also the first-ever international disability match at Lord’s, making the occasion even more special. The result was a landmark achievement for inclusive cricket and a proud moment for players and country.
