Gujarat Titans continued their winning streak as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League. Gujarat Titans were put into bat first on a tricky surface and lost the wickets of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler early. They had to rebuild from there and Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar played very well as both batters smashed half centuries to help Gujarat Titans post a total of 168/5 at the end of the first innings. Chasing the target, Sunrisers Hyderabad lost plenty of wickets upfront as Rabada picked up three wickets to dent the chase. Jason Holder scalped three wickets and other bowlers chipped in as Sunrisers Hyderabad were bundled out for 86 as Gujarat Titans won by 82 runs.

GT 168/5 (Sudharsan 61, Praful Hinge 2/17) beatSRH 86/10 (Cummins 19, Holder 3/20)

Washington Sundar: Happy. The wicket was quite different. It was important for one of the set batters to play till the end, that did help. I was trying to play that shot previously as well, but they were nailing those yorkers. The plan was to not think much. Thoughts do come every now and then. I was focused on understanding the situation. Happy with the way I finished. Until the 17th or 18th over, I didn't want to go all-out. Wanted to play those shots that were possible on this wicket. I don't think I should give away too much. Speaks a lot about our team. The people who are a part of this set-up. Need to understand the conditions and play accordingly.

Pat Cummins: I feel they bowled really well in that second innings. I was pretty happy with when we walked off at the start, but yeah, pretty tricky wicket. I think they made the most of it, their bowlers, they bowled really well. So, yeah, maybe try and look at ways to get through that spell, but, you know, they deserve a bit of credit. Yeah, I mean, you always look at it. It looked like a pretty tough wicket once you kind of hit that back of the length and they didn't really give us much to score. So, perhaps in our bowling innings, you kind of, you learn from that, you think maybe we could have held our lengths just a little bit longer. But overall, you know, I thought that, that's as good as T20 bowling as you're going to see from them. Our batting order's been fantastic. So I don't think we need to read it too far into today. I think all four of our top four have over 400 runs. So, the guys are going really well. This happens in T20 cricket. So we go to a couple of venues that we know quite well. So, take some confidence into that. (On qualification scenarios) I think getting ahead of the count pretty early (is important). I think we won five or six out of the last seven. Gives you a bit of breathing room these last few games. So, yeah, we've still got two games yet to qualify. So again, going back to what got us those wins in the first place and yeah, putting this one behind us pretty quickly.

Shubman Gill | Gujarat Titans captain:

It worked out well for us on a tricky wicket. We spoke about getting anywhere close to 160-170 with out bowling attack and make it hard for them. The way we bowled in the powerplay helped us set up the game. Honestly it's about being consistent. He is such an experienced candidate for us. Bowling four overs in this humidity is not easy.

Kagiso Rabada | Player of the match:

I didn't judge the catch properly, would have been nice to get one more wicket. Season in and season out, only try to do the best for the team. Just leave everything out there for the team. Rythm is everything and you need to find a way to somehow click. It's just about finding out the kind of wicket we are playing and see how much you can extract without looking at too far ahead. 100%, they showed us how to bowl on this wicket and we did it better.

Gujarat Titans are the table toppers with this win and they are in a purple patch doing well. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be keen to bounce back and they have a few more games which is key for qualifying in the top four. It was an exciting game and the home side dominated it.
