Sanju Samson who scored 321 runs in the just concluded T20 World Cup 2026 and played a dominant role in India’s mega third title triumph has been the toast of the cricketing galaxy both in India (his home country) and around the world. His explosive hitting accompanied by a sassy strike which was 175 during the tournament further endeared him to tens of thousands of fans around the world.

While there are batters who strike a fifty or two during intense games, here was Sanju Samson who struck three separate half centuries on the bounce, each starring for India’s cause in crucial must win games against the West Indies, England and then finally against the BlackCaps in the World Cup final.

Resultantly, Sanju, a belligerent right hander from Kerala has become the ruler of the roost of India’s cricketing galaxy.

But understandably so, post the completion of the World Cup, he’s been the center point of several TV shows and media coverage in different events across India.

Once such event was the India Today conclave held recently in the national capital where a question was asked of Sanju about his gritty 97 against the West Indies. Another knock where he emerged unbeaten leading India on course to a successful run chase.

The anchor on stage asked Sanju if he had thought about his own century and whether he could have got to it.

To this, the mild mannered India batter replied, “of course you do think of your century, after all, who doesn’t want hundreds in an India jersey but at that time what matters most is the team’s victory!” He would further add, “I respected the process which had given me runs and simply stuck to the plan!”
