The Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel, won the toss and elected to field first. The Gujarat Titans had their skipper Shubman Gill, back in the side, which strengthened their top order. Sai Sudharshan was dismissed early on in the 3rd over of the game. Mukesh Kumar got the breakthrough for the Delhi Capitals, and the Gujarat Titans were in trouble as they lost the wicket of Sai Sudharshan in the powerplay itself. With plenty of power to come down the batting unit, the Gujarat Titans will be confident that they can put up a commendable total on the board.
Jos Buttler’s explosive fifty shifts momentum towards Gujarat Titans after early blow
Then Jos Buttler walked in to bat at number 3, and he was hopeful that he could turn around his batting form with a fine innings. Jos Buttler couldn’t quite get going in the initial matches against the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings. The batting unit of the Gujarat Titans is reliant on the likes of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharshan and Jos Buttler, so the form of these 3 would be important for their success. Buttler seemed to be in good touch from ball one, and he was able to find the gaps with ease. The momentum shift for the Gujarat Titans took place in the 5th over, when Jos Butler stood his ground and smashed Mukesh Kumar for 23 runs in an over, including 3 sixes and a boundary. Mukesh Kumar, who was looking dangerous with the wicket of Sai Sudharshan, had simply no answer to the brutality of Butler.
Jos Buttler raced to his fifty off just 24 balls, and it is his 25th half-century in the IPL. It has come at a time when the Gujarat Titans really needed it. With plenty of overs left to go in the match, the Gujarat Titans will be hoping that Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler can stick around at least till the 13th over or so. If they are to secure a massive total above 200, then this partnership will have to go on. Buttler will be happy to have found his batting form, and he will be confident that he can carry this momentum forward in the coming games and that he can win some important games for his side.
