Indian cricket team player,Karn Sharma has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket at the age of 38. The experienced Railways bowler made the announcement Saturday night. This decision came after the UP T20 League match between Kanpur Superstars and Meerut Mavericks. He has announced that he will play his final match on August 25. It will come during his team's last game of the Lucknow leg. The seasoned cricketer thanked his family and several cricket associations for their support. He also expressed gratitude towards the BCCI and Railways. “I now want to retire. I am extremely grateful to my family, BCCI, Railways, UPCA, Andhra, Vidarbha Cricket Association and everyone,” he said.

The veteran also revealed what lies ahead after his playing career. He intends to remain involved with cricket through coaching and other responsibilities. “After this, I will be available for coaching and other responsibilities related to the game of cricket,” he said. His retirement has brought an emotional close to a long and eventful journey. He began his domestic career during the 2007-08 season. Initially, he developed as an all-rounder before establishing himself as a leg-spinner. His breakthrough came during a memorable Ranji Trophy campaign. His strong stats eventually earned him an IPL opportunity and national selection. He later represented India across all three formats.

He claimed 270 wickets at an average of 27.60 in those games. His tally also included 14 five-wicket hauls. With the bat, he scored 2,866 first-class runs across 138 innings. The veteran also recorded two centuries and 17 half-centuries. His domestic numbers reflected his value as a dependable all-round cricketer. In List A cricket, he featured in 123 matches and picked up 153 wickets. He also produced three five-wicket hauls in the format. His batting record included one century and six half-centuries. These numbers underline the consistency he maintained across different stages of his career.

His T20 record was equally notable, especially during his successful IPL journey. The seasoned cricketer played 191 T20 matches and claimed 168 wickets. His IPL career included 90 matches and 83 wickets. He also became the first player to win three consecutive IPL titles. Remarkably, those titles came with three different teams. He lifted the trophy with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. He then won with Mumbai Indians in 2017. A year later, he completed the unique feat with Chennai Super Kings.
