The Delhi Capitals opener KL Rahul has raced to his fifty in just 26 balls and along with Nitish Rana has also brought up his half-century in 29 balls. The duo has brought up their 100-run partnership as well and the Capitals will be pleased with it. They have been in fine touch in the last couple of games and Rahul was even given a chance by Shashank Singh. Arshdeep Singh almost had the wicket of KL Rahul in the power play but Shashank put the catch down. Rahul and Rana have been magnificent batting together and they will have to make sure to stay a bit longer.
The Punjab Kings had the early breakthrough with the wicket of Pathum Nissanka but it was short lived as KL Rahul and Nitish Rana spoiled their party. They will be desperate for a wicket as they need to find their way back into the game. The number 3 slot has been a headache for the Delhi Capitals but with today’s knock, Nitish Rana would have cemented his spot at number 3.

Dominant 100-run stand puts Punjab Kings on back foot in high-scoring contest
The Delhi Capitals had won the toss and elected to bat first as it is a day game. The element of dew will be absent and the pitch could get slower as the innings progresses. Pathum Nissanka couldn’t bring out his best game. There were already concerns regarding the opening pair of Delhi Capitals as they couldn’t get the explosive start required in many of the games. With today’s innings, Pathum Nissanka’s spot will be under threat as Prithvi Shaw could get a start ahead of him.
KL Rahul and Nitish Rana have been phenomenal at the crease today as there has been no stopping the duo. The boundaries are coming thick and fast at the moment and the Punjab Kings are slowly slipping away from the game. They had to take their chances as Rahul was dropped twice in the innings itself. Nitish Rana has been batting in a beautiful manner as he even smashed 28 runs off Xavier Bartlett in a single over. This could be a game-changing partnership as they do still have plenty of batting to come in down the order.
At the moment, the Delhi Capitals will be hoping that KL Rahul and Nitish Rana can continue for a bit longer as they do have the likes of Tristan Stubbs and David Miller coming in at the back end of the innings. The Punjab Kings will be ready for a massive chase and they will hope to keep their unbeaten streak alive.
