Not a day passes by when Virat Kohli is not appreciated by either his colleagues of the Indian cricketing firmament or of talent and rising names that the game is saying in different parts of the world. As a matter of fact, King Kohli, as he called, has an impact, even on talents shining in the women’s game. Both past and present. Such has been the brilliant impact of the man whose worship everywhere for his technical correctness, commitment, class, consistency in the game that he has the respect and admiration of pretty much the entire world.
We’ve seen several of his current colleagues in the Indian cricket team firmament, including the likes of Captain Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Rishabh Pant singing praises about just how inspiring Kohli is both as a person and with the bat.
Then we have seen international names and renowned names at that such as Sir Ian Bishop, Glenn McGrath, Mitch Johnson and Kane Williamson among many others appreciating ardently the great batter.

But guess who’s recently sort of joined the fan club, if one must put it that way?
Well, it’s none other than former Australian captain Michael Clarke. He’s said in no uncertain terms that Virat Kohli is the greatest “run chaser that the game has seen!”
Showing rich praise in the great batter, a record breaking right hander, Clarke said the following- “Virat Kohli is the greatest white ball player this game has ever seen. He is the greatest run chaser this game has ever seen!”
What’s brilliant in this regard is not just the fact that hardly any informed and intelligent follower or reader of the game would ever disagree with Clarke’s assessment. But in fact what’s particularly heartening here is the fact that the rich praise is coming from a successful triple hundred maker from Australia. Someone who excelled in both formats of the game. Michael Clarke, lest we forget, struck 8600 runs in international Test match cricket for Australia besides nearly 8000 one day international runs. He has 28 centuries to his name in Test cricket and 36 on the whole.
Day by day King Kohli’s legacy as a great achiever and a batting champion finds reputable mention on the part of those who have themselves left an indelible mark on the game. If that’s not wonderful, then what is?
