As the Indian Premier League recently came to a conclusion with RCB winning the championship or the title, the main focus for men’s cricket in India on the whole shifted further to the next exploits of the Indian cricket team. And in that regard, for became truly important is the next bilateral series that India were prime to have, which is going to start in the next few hours.
As a matter of fact, the next most important bilateral series, which India are going to have is going to be Afghanistan’s tour of India.
Afghanistan prime to play one of Test match, which will happen at Dharamsala, but that is not all. Not long after the one of Test is over. There are supposed to be three separate one day Internations, which will be held in different regions of India. And that is why somebody like Virat Kohli and his presence becomes the focal point and such an important thing.
And in what is clearly a setback and a heartbreaking development- it is being reported that Virat Kohli is not going to take part in the one-day international games that are slated against Afghanistan.
Going to a hamstring injury, Virat Kohli has been immediately ruled out of the three wonders that are part of Afghanistan’s tour of India.
Despite having great batting in the capabilities of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and India’s one day captain, Shubman Gill, there is simply no undermining the importance of a great of the game in the form of Virat Kohli. But what’s now? What is to happen now?
Perhaps somewhere, it suffices to say that Virat Kohli will be dearly missed in the series. That’s not only because the king with the bat would have been useful, but the series holds tremendous importance in lines with the preparation for 2027ICC men’s World Cup. Kohli would have wanted to be back amongst the runs and to take up solid, batting practice ahead of the elite Global tournament.
Another reason why he is going to be missed by India. Of 3 matches in the one day format against Afghanistan, he has hit 122 runs against the team. His highest score is 67. What’s more? He hit two half centuries against the team. And all of that has happened at an incredible batting average of 102. If that is not worthy of being appreciated or prized in gold standard of batting, then what is?
But it’s what it is. Injuries are also part of a modern Cricketers’ life and this time around an injury has stung Virat Kohli.
