The Chennai Super Kings veteran MS Dhoni has trained with the squad ahead of the fixture against the Sunrisers Hyderabad and this could probably be his home farewell match. The former CSK captain hasn’t featured in any of the matches up till now and the fans have been anticipating the return of their idol. He was initially ruled out of the opening fixtures due to a calf injury but then later on, the definite reason why he wasn’t featuring wasn’t revealed as such. There have been heavy rumours of his silent retirement but there has been no confirmation as of now.
CSK has requested their fans to stay back after the game against SRH and this could just add fuel to the existing rumours on Dhoni’s retirement. This will be a huge moment in CSK’s IPL tenure as he has been one of the most important players in the setup. The yellow fans will be heartbroken as they have yearned to see him bat and even till the extent that they celebrate their own wickets in the excitement to see MS Dhoni bat. This would officially mark an end of an era and the new era unfolding with Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad leading the charge.

CSK’s playoff hopes hang in the balance as Ruturaj’s men prepare for must-win game against SRH
It will be interesting to see how the narrative of this game will shape up as all the fans will be in heavy anticipation to see their team win against SRH but Dhoni’s farewell will be in the back of their mind. CSK have faced some certain concerns in recent times and it was evident against the LSG.
The addition of Spencer Johnson has been a valuable one and he could probably provide support to Anshul Kamboj. The yellow fans will be hoping that Sanju Samson could play a blinder of an innings today as he is one of those players that can win games single-handedly for the side. Kartik Sharma and Urvil Patel have also been in good touch and they will be hopeful of playing crucial knocks today.
As the playoff race is getting tighter with every game, Ruturaj Gaikwad and his men will be looking forward to making an impact in the game. This will be a must win game for the side as they lost their previous game against LSG and that has caused a great deal of damage.
Their remaining two fixtures against SRH and GT won’t be easy as both teams are eyeing for a spot at the top of the table. There will be a higher possibility of CSK overpowering the men in orange at Chepauk than attempting to breach the fortress at Ahmedabad.
Ahead of the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, MS Dhoni could potentially feature for the side and he will be hoping to retire at a high note. Considering the approach of the veteran early on in the season to not take up the chance of a youngster in the side, we could maybe not even see him featuring for the side. Even if Dhoni plays or not, the CSK fans will be left heartbroken as they witness the retirement of a legend of the IPL.
