On this day, March 5, 2021: Rishabh Pant smashes audacious century to help India beat England in fourth Test at Ahmedabad. It was a memorable day for the Indian wicket-keeper batter as his counter attacking knock on a difficult pitch proved to be the difference between the two teams as India beat England by an innings and 25 runs to wrap up the series and also made it to the WTC Final of 2021. England were batting first in the fourth Test and they were bowled out for 205 in the first innings. It was a very difficult pitch for batting and apart from Stokes no one else could stand up for England.  

Axar Patel picked up four wickets and Ashwin picked up three wickets as England were bowled out cheaply. In reply, India were also in all sorts of trouble in the second innings as they were reduced to 146/6 at one stage and were staring at conceding a lead. Rishabh Pant came in and played some remarkable strokes to put the pressure back on England.

Rishabh Pant scored a century and stitched a huge partnership along with Washington Sundar to help India take a massive lead and that was the turning point of the match. Pant was finally dismissed for 101 runs of just 118 balls. His knock included 13 fours and two sixes. That ensured India posted 365 runs on the board in the first innings and took a lead of more than 150 on that surface.

Washington Sundar supported him well and remained unbeaten on 96 as India were bowled out for 365. It was a very difficult pitch and Pant helped India take a big lead. In the third innings, England were bowled out for just 135 runs as India won the match by an innings and 25 runs and also wrapped up the series. This win helped them reach the Final of the WTC. Pant won the player of the match for his outstanding knock and it was a memorable day for the Indian wicket-keeper.
