Gujarat Titans have begun their IPL campaign against Punjab Kings today at the New stadium in New Chandigarh. The host team won the toss and chose to bowl their opponents. The bowling for the Kings was started by Arshdeep Singh who secured 9 runs in the over while Gill and Sudarshan rotated the strike to keep runs on board. However, as soon as things started to look hopeful, Sai Sudarshan’s wicket was taken by Marco Jansen in the third over.

The wicket led to Sudarshan recieving criticism from the Twitter audience who criticised his slow strike rate while the other part of the app, appreciated Jansen for taking the wicket early in the innings and contributing to the team.

Gill was then joined by Buttler who took his own time to settle but hit Vyshak for a four in the next over itself. Butler hit two fours in the over, covering up for Sudarshan's wicket early in the innings.

Will Gill make a comeback this IPL?

Twitter also called this season to be test for Gill to prove himself and make a come back in the T20I team as he has not played the international games in T20 for a long time.

Even after being hit for two fours in the fourth over, skipper Shreyas Iyer brought Jansen back into the fifth over to stop the runs flowing and bring the game back into the red dugout. However, Vyshak was brought again for the seventh over where Buttler hit him for a six. The young PBKS player gave 10 runs in an over along with a leg bye. GT fans are in joy as Buttler came in time for the team and is now building a partnership along side Gill to bring the score to a defendable target for the Kings in the second innings. It would be interesting to see how Iyer responds to Buttler using Vyshak’s over to stabilise the innings for the blue team.
