The third match of the 2026 IPL season will commence in the evening of March 30, where they will face the Super Kings of Chennai. The team will play their debut match under their new leader and the homeboy of Assam, Riyan Parag. Hours before their match, the Royals were seen visiting the holy Kamakhya Mandir in Guwahati to seek the goddesses’ blessings.
A clip was posted by the official handle of the Rajasthan Royals, where the veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and bowler Ravi Bishnoi were seen visiting the holy temple to seek her blessings for their match.
The post read, “Blessings to begin with. Always. 💗🙏”.
Dewald Brewis suffers a side strain before the match in Guwahati
Meanwhile, CSK are coming into the match without MS Dhoni, who picked up a calf injury at the beginning of the tournament and would not play 6 matches of this season. Earlier today, their new prodigy, Dewald Brewis, was also reported to have picked up a side strain and would not be playing the first match. Sanju Samson will play his first match today in the yellow jersey against his former team and will be keeping the wickets for the team, as stated by the franchise CEO.
Australian player Nathan Ellis has already been ruled out of the season, before he could even play the first match. The qualification of CSK seems uncertain with the number of injuries the franchise has already suffered at the start of the season.
The Rajasthan Royals would be relying on their last season opening partners, Yashaswi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to open big for the team. Sooryavanshi had an impressive U19 tournament as he represented the country, while Jaiswal has been struggling to make his place in the T20 team of the country.
