
In the second match of the IPL 2026, Mumbai Indians were chasing a mammoth target of 221 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
While going to bat, the umpire stopped Rohit Sharma before he could enter the ground to check his bat. While checking the bat size, it wasnât going through. However, Rohit persisted and said that it will go through do it properly and let me go. Eventually, with the force, it went through and Rohit could go out to bat.

Earlier, we have seen that such incidents have happened that batters are carrying bigger sized bats which gives undue advantage to the batter. Nowadays umpires have started to test most of the batters before they go out to bat.
In the game, Rohit Sharma continued to show his class and ended up scoring a blistering half century - which also is his fastest in the IPL. In the inning, Rohit Sharma smacked 6 boundaries and as many sixes.

Due to his heroic knock and Shardul Thakurâs three-fer - Mumbai Indians finally managed to break their jinx of losing first match in the IPL as they won their first game after 14 editions.
After his heroic knock, Ambati Rayudu said that Rohit Sharma will definitely score 500+ runs in the season, which will eventually strengthen Mumbai Indians chances of making it to the playoffs.
Mumbai Indians will now be up against Delhi Capitals on 4th April at the Arjun Jaitely Stadium in New Delhi.
