Mumbai Indians break their 15-year curse of not winning their first match of the tournament as they secured their first 2026 IPL win against KKR while chasing 220. The highlights of the match were the two half centuries by KKR players, Ajinkya Rahane and the young Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton secured a 150- run partnership while chasing and Shardul Thakur secured the player of the match after picking 3 wickets and only giving 39 runs in the match.

A clip on X (formerly Twitter) went viral, where the spectators found the vice-captain of the Knight Riders, Rinku Singh was seen walking away with Hardik Pandya’s bat as they were shaking hands after the match ended. The video left the viewers in giggles and also reminded them of the last time he walked away with Rohit Sharma’s bat.  

Hardik Pandya finished the match for Mumbai Indians by scoring a boundary in the last over of the match, he was supported by Naman Dhir.

Rinku Singh the stand-in captain in Rahane’s absence

Rinku Singh, supported KKR by scoring 33 runs with a strike rate of 157.14. He also captained the team, in the absence of Rahane who caught a leg cramp in the beginning of the second innings.

MI will now face Delhi Capitals in the afternoon of April 4at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, while KKR will face the wounded SRH on April 2, at their home ground in Kolkata.
