Two amazing cricketers, to amazingly talented players and two legends who have served Indian cricket in their own right. Yes, we are talking about Sourav Ganguly on the one hand and then none other than Thala or Mahi or MSD, and let’s say Mahendra Singh Dhoni as we all know him. Now it’s important is that there is an uncanny similarity between the two cricketers. And it’s a quite simple one at that. It’s a very fact that both have served India in the capacity of being its captains, although at different period of time, but What’s important to know that at a time where Mahendra Singh Dhoni was blossoming blooming and coming into his own. Sourav Ganguly was the captain, but he was on the decline as far as Internations career was concerned. He was on his way out of the Indian team.

And yet there is another uncanny similarity between the two cricketers that the fans always remember, and do so much regard, affection and love in the eyes, so what is it?  

And unless we forget it pertains to the fact that both have been added six haters of the cricket ball, irrespective of whether you talk of test match cricket or you talk of one day international cricket. The familiar height of Dada dancing down the ground and lifting spinner in Fast bowlers alike for a six, and Dhoni converting a great delivery into a six on just about any other position on the ground. Now, that was something you would dub as a rather admirable thing to see, especially if you were witnessing it live as a Cricket fan.

There are batters who hit sixes for fun, and both these cricketers actually did that for the better part of their careers for India. Now, here is something that you may call heartening. Something you would consider quite interesting.

In the mid of the IPL, as the tournament in 2026 is headed towards its business stage, the next definitive step, Sourav Ganguly, the Former cricket captain spoke with great affection about MS Dhoni’s amazing ability at hitting sixes.

Now truth be told there is absolute ounce of tooth in every single word that Dada has said here about Dhoni. Because Dhoni has this amazing ability of not just collecting runs against all kinds of bowlers. But in the fact that he could accelerate an inning, give it an upper tempo and hit the big shots when they were required, and perhaps even when they were least expected on the part of the bowlers. Isn’t it?

That is exactly what is CSK fans are waiting for that ability of hitting sixes because Dhoni is yet to feature in a single game for CSK.
