It was a record breaking day at Barsapara on 11 August in the Assam Premier League. Charaideo Sunrisers walked out and completely rewrote the Assam Premier League record books only to watch Guwahati Royals chase down 209 with three balls left. Sunrisers captain Sumit Ghadigaonkar and opener Pradyun Saikia put on a show. The two of them just kept hitting and kept running. By the time Saikia finally got out for 59, they had already put on 143 runs for the first wicket which is the highest partnership for any wicket in the entire tournament so far. Ghadigaonkar continued his blistering form and went all the way to 107 off just 64 balls, smashing six fours and seven sixes. That knock became the highest individual score in APL history and the first and only century of the competition till now.

Amlanjyoti Das finished unbeaten on 30 as the Sunrisers ended on 208 for 2. They were the first team to cross 200 in this league. At the halfway mark it looked like a good total. Guwahati Royals came out all guns blazing. Rohit Sen smashed 96 runs off 38 balls with ten sixes. Even after his dismissal the Royals kept going with the rate. Gunjanjyoti Deka stayed till the end with 38 not out, and Mrinmoy Dutta chipped in with a quick 16. They got home with three wickets and three balls to spare. Rohit Sen was the player of the match.

• Highest individual score in the history of APL – Sumit Ghadigaonkar 107 (64)

Sumit produced a terrific knock of 107 off just 64 balls for Charaideo Sunrisers which included six fours and seven sixes. This is the highest individual score in the history of APL.

• Only player to score a century in APL – Sumit Ghadigaonkar

Ghadigaonkar became the first and so far only batsman to register a century in the Assam Premier League. His maiden ton in the competition came at a crucial stage.

• Highest-ever partnership for any wicket in APL – 143 runs (Sumit Ghadigaonkar & Pradyun Saikia)

Opening the innings, Ghadigaonkar and Pradyun Saikia put on a record 143-run stand off just 82 balls. Saikia contributed a quick 59 off 39 while Sumit smashed a century.

• First team to score 200+ in the tournament – Charaideo Sunrisers 208/2

Charaideo Sunrisers became the first side in APL history to cross the 200-run mark, posting 208 for 2 in 20 overs. Anchored by Ghadigaonkar’s century and the record opening stand,

For Sunrisers, Dibakar Johri picked up three wickets, but the total just kept slipping away. Despite the loss, Ghadigaonkar and Saikia's opening stand, the century will be talked about for a long time. This was a match where plenty of records were broken as Royals chased down a massive total and it was a blockbuster game at the Assam Premier League.
