India skipper Shreyas Iyer is in high spirits despite suffering another loss as the captain. The Men in Blue registered a four-wicket loss to England in the second of the five-match T20I series on Saturday, July 4 at Manchester. The game that saw prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi making his international debut, saw India putting up 190 with the loss of seven wickets batting first. Opener Abhishek Sharma added 43 runs to the total while wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan contributed 49 runs.
In the second innings, the Englishmen found themselves in deep trouble after Arshdeep Singh dismissed their openers on ducks in the first over. While it seemed that Men in Blue had almost gotten control over the game, Harry Brook’s heroics helped them fight back and make a comeback.

Eventually, his men were able to record a four-wicket win over the rivals to record an early 1-0 lead in the series. Nevertheless, Indian skipper Shreyas Iyer looked calm even after facing third straight loss at the helm of the side. Speaking after the game, he said, “I'm always in high spirits and I know that this is the lowest you can go.”
Notably, India are yet to win a game under the captaincy of Iyer, who replaced Suryakumar Yadav to lead the side.

Iyer didn’t shy away from naming Ravi Bishnoi as one of the reasons behind India’s loss. Notably, during the 17 over, Bishnoi threw two no balls and ended up conceding 29 runs in the over, helping the side cruise towards the victory line. With this, he also set up an unwanted record of conceding third highest runs by an Indian bowler after Shivam Dube and Stuart Binny. Speaking about the same, Iyer said, “I think we all know where it went away but I don't want to pinpoint a particular player.”
He added, “I was like, okay he's going to come back strong after that (the first no ball). But the 17th over haunted us. But he'll learn.” Notably, on India’s side Arshdeep Singh picked three wickets while Harshit Rana, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakravarthy scalped one wicket each.
