Rajshahi Warriors won their first BPL title on the back of an excellent century from Tanzid Hasan. Tanzid became the third batter after Tamim Iqbal and Chris Gayle to score a century in the BPL final. After the final was completed and the post match presentations started it was an embarrassing moment for the BPL organizers as instead of ‘Player of the tournament’ it was written as ‘Payler’ in the cheque.

Shoriful Islam won the player of the tournament award and collected the cheque of 10,00,000 BDT. He was posing for the camera and that is when the ’Payler’ mistake was noticed and soon it went viral. Fans could not stop laughing as it was an embarrassing moment for the BPL to make such a big mistake. In the BPL Final, Rajshahi chose to bat first against Chattogram. The openers for Rajshahi aded 83 runs for the first wicket in 10.2 overs. Farhan made 30 with two fours and a six, but it was Tanzid who held Rajshahi’s innings together. He also added 47 runs with Kane Williamson, before reaching his third T20 century off 61 balls. Tanzid smashed seven sixes and six fours before falling for 100 in the penultimate over helping Rajshahi post a competitive 174 for 4 after batting first. It was an above par score. Shoriful Islam picke up two wickets and took his BPL tally to 26 wickets for the season while Mukidul Islam was Chattogram’s best bowler on the day, taking 2 for 20 from his four overs.

In reply, Chattogram were bowled out for just 111. Binura Fernando gave Rajshahi another good start with the ball, removing Mohammad Naim and Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the third over. He returned to remove Asif Ali and Shoriful Islam to finish with excellent figures of 4 for 9 as Rajshahi won the match by 63 runs and secured their first BPL title. Tanzid Hasan was the player of the match.
