India got off to a blazing start against New Zealand in the Final of the 2026 WT20 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The top 3 batters all of them scored half-centuries and this is the first time in T20 WC history, each of the top three in a team innings have gone past 50. India were cruising as they were 203/1 at the end of the 15th over and they were looking for a big flourish but Jimmy Neesham came into bowl and picked up three wickets in a single over to bring New Zealand back into the game. Jimmy Neesham in the first ball of his over picked up the big wicket of Sanju Samson for 89 as he was caught in the deep. The next two balls he bowled dots to Hardik Pandya and in the fourth ball, Hardik took a single as India went to 204/2. In the fourth ball of the over, Ishan Kishan was caught in the deep as Neesham picked up another wicket. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav came into bat and in his first ball he hit straight to deep fine leg as Jimmy Neesham picked up three wickets in that over.
India went from 203/1 to 204/4 as Jimmy Neesham bowled an outstanding 16th over where he gave away just one run while also picking up three wickets in a single over. New Zealand have made a comeback in the game coutesy that over and he has brought life back to this game.
India were in an excellent position to have a big flourish in the final five overs but Neesham with that over has put a dent. India are still in a commanding position but by picking up three wickets he has ensure that India will fall short by a few runs. This is the big Final and India are looking to win their third title while New Zealand are eyeing for the first title.
