
In the 2026 IPL auction, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru had retained most of their title-winning squad. Amongst the 17 players that was retained by the side, Abhinandan Singh was one of the Indian talents that RCB had backed. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru picked the youngster in the starting squad of the season opener against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Abhinandan Singh, the young Indian seamer, is an interesting future prospect for the country as he can generate movement with the new ball and is disciplined with his lengths. He performed well in the UPT20 league and caught the attention of the RCB scouts from there. He served as the net bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the 2024 season.
In the 2024 season of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League, Abhinandan Singh was clinical with the ball as he broke the rhythm of the batters. He picked up 15 wickets from 11 innings at an economy rate of 7. He also bowled a sensational spell against the Kanpur Superstars, where he picked up 4 wickets and gave away just 26 runs from his 4 overs. He was arguably one of the most effective bowlers as he could deliver with the new ball and pick crucial wickets in the death overs.
Abhinandan Singh consistently proved his worth in the domestic circuit and earned himself an IPL contract in the IPL 2025 season with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for a base price of ₹30 Lakh. Even though he couldn’t make it into the playing squad that season, RCB recognized his capabilities and retained him to maintain the bowling depth of the squad. With a chance being given to Abhinandan Singh this early in the season, he will be hoping that he can perform well and cement his spot in the starting squad for the rest of the season.
