The Delhi Capitals will be back in full form on Tuesday as they clash against the Chennai Super Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. As per the reports, fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has retained his full fitness and he will be featured in the anticipated clash against the five-time IPL winning team. Notably, Ngidi missed the last couple of games for the Axar Patel-led franchise after suffering a head injury during the clash against the Punjab Kings last month.
On the third ball of the third over, Ngidi attempted a Priyansh Arya catch but while doing so, he landed on his back and suffered a nasty fall on his head. Though it was expected to be a non-serious injury at first, the South African stayed on the field for sometime, before being taken away to the hospital in an ambulance. However, later the franchise as well the cricketer himself shared a positive update on his injury, but he ended up missing the next DC games.
But, as the Capitals are set to host the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side on Tuesday, there are reports that the 30-year-old has regained his full fitness, and he will be featured against the Yellow Army.
DC bowling coach Munaf Patel shares positive update on Lungi Ngidi’s injury
Ahead of the highly-anticipated clash between the five-time champions and the Delhi-based franchise, DC bowling coach Munaf Patel shared a positive update on the speedster’s injury. The former India bowler revealed that Ngidi is set to return to action against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. "Everyone is fit. Lungi is fit. He didn't play two games because of the criterion of six days' rest," said Patel.
Speaking about the fact that the Capitals need to win their remaining games, Patel said that they don’t have any choice now. "We do not have any option but to win. We have to win all the matches if we want to qualify for play offs. The biggest of the totals are chased if you don't get wickets in powerplays. Presence of a big bowler does make a difference," he said.
"Confidence comes with victory only. You cannot get confidence if you lose. We have one of the best spinners. We are not going to see too many changes in the wickets," the former Indian pacer added.
Notably, the Capitals are seeded seventh in the standings with just eight points.
