In a major development from the world of football, Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad are planning a shock bid for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes before the ongoing summer transfer window closes on September 1. It is understood that there has already been a meeting between the representatives of Al-Ittihad and Bruno Fernandes to explore the possibility of a move for the Portuguese international away from Old Trafford.

As per the report from The Sun, Bruno Fernandes is open to a move if his financial demands are met elsewhere despite being the captain of Manchester United and having a good rapport with manager Ruben Amorim. Furthermore, the aforementioned website also claimed that Fernandes has demanded a £33 million annual salary from the Saudi Pro League club, to potentially join them this summer.

Bruno Fernandes turned down lucrative offer from Al-Hilal earlier this summer

It is important to note that Bruno Fernandes had turned down a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal, the direct rivals of Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, earlier in the summer. His current contract with Manchester United runs until 2027, with the club having an option to extend it a further 12 months, and if the reports are to be believed, they won’t be stopping the Portuguese from leaving the club if he really wants to go.

Moreover, in one of his recent interviews about his future at Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes was quoted as saying, “I have always been honest. I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club the great days. In the day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way.”

Moreover, the sources close to Manchester United have mentioned to the Manchester Evening News that it is highly unlikely that Bruno Fernandes leaves them before the transfer deadline.
