On Monday there cannnot be a bigger breaking news than Ruben Amorim being sacked by Manchester United. The club deciding to part ways with Amorim following a run of disappointing results and a media outburst from the manager aimed at the club. Amorim was appointed at Old Trafford in November 2024 replacing Erik ten Hag on a two-and-a-half-year contract, which was due to expire in June 2027.

This decision came after Amorim's outburst following the 1-1 draw with Leeds. He complained about his head coach title and insisted he be referred to as the manager. “I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United. That is clear. I know that my name is not [Thomas] Tuchel, it’s not [Antonio] Conte, it’s not [Jose] Mourinho, but I’m the manager of Manchester United”. Amorim told reporters.

He spent 14 months in charge of Man United and has won just 24 of his 63 matches in charge of United, which puts his win percentage at 38.71 per cent which is the second worst record for a Man United coach.

However Amonrim was confident as he made a statement “And it’s going to be like this for 18 months or when the board decides to change. I’m not going to quit. I will do my job until another guy is coming here to replace me.”

But in an apparent pointed message to the Old Trafford hierarchy following a draw at Leeds he lost his confidence from the higher authorities.

As per reports, Amorim had a scheduled meeting with director of football Jason Wilcox on Friday, where Manchester United’s tactical approach was discussed in detail. Sky Sports News reported that Manchester United’ higher authority felt Amorim’s response at that meeting was very negative and emotional hence came to a conclusion to part ways.

Man United are currently sixth in the Premier League despite winning just three of their last 11 matches. They have officially confirmed this news and thanked Amorim for his services. After this fallout, Darren Fletcher will take interim charge of the first team for the match against Burnley on Wednesday. Fletcher is the coach of Under 18s.
