Manchester United have confirmed that their Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana completed a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. The deal got signed just before the closure of the summer transfer window in Turkey on Friday, September 12, and it will allow Andre Onana to potentially make his Trabzonspor debut against Fenerbahce on Sunday, September 14, against Fenerbahce at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Notably, Andre Onana didn’t feature in the Manchester United playing XI for their first three matches of the new Premier League season under manager Ruben Amorim, with Altay Bayindir taking the role of the first-choice goalkeeper. Following the arrival of young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day earlier this month, the writing was on the wall for the Cameroonian in regards to his future at the club.

Andre Onana made just one appearance for Manchester United in 2025-26 season

The only appearance Andre Onana made for Manchester United in the ongoing 2025-26 season happened during the League Cup round two clash against Grimsby Town from League 2, which they lost on penalties after his mistake for one of the goals in the normal time. During his time at the Red Devils, the 29-year-old made 102 appearances in just over two seasons, and he went on to win the FA Cup in 2024.

In their official statement, Manchester United wished Andre Onana “good luck” while announcing the completion of his loan move to Trabzonspor, which is subject to international clearance and registration proceedings. With his departure, the Red Devils have the likes of Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, and Senne Lammens as their goalkeeping options for the upcoming Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium against City in the Premier League on September 14.
