Mohun Bagan Super Giants are the defending Champions of the Indian Super League (ISL). The Kolkata based club is known for producing top-tier talents in Indian football through their training programmes and elite-level scouting. They are currently one of the best teams in Indian Football.
However, latest developments suggest that MBSG have blatantly refused the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to send their Indian players to the ongoing National Camp in preparation for the CAFA Nations Cup. MBSG stand by their stance that they cannot be forced to send their players to the National camp outside of the FIFA calendar schedules. The Indian team has already started their preparation on August 15th. However, 13 members from the squad which has been announced for the CAFA Nations Cup have not yet made their way to the National camp.

7 out of these 13 players are from Mohun Bagan who are standing strong in their values. At the initial stage, the absence of these players was due to their participation in Durand Cup, however they were knocked out of the quarter-finals by their fierce arch-rivals East Bengal as they were defeated 2-1 at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata. Mohun Bagan are now refusing to release their players due to preparations for the AFC Champions League Two opener against the Turkmenistan side Ahal FC on September 16.
Mohun Bagan are disappointed by the AIFF and complain that most of the times the players return with an injury after the National matches which keeps them sidelined for a long period of time. An MBSG official stated that, “Every time they take our players, three-four of them return injured, and the AIFF is least bothered to communicate, compensate, or even check on them.” Mohun Bagan are determined to keep the players in their team for the required training and preparations ahead of the tournament.
