Bringing in a new perspective to the sports arena in India, the central governemnt recently passed the National Sports Governance Bill. Following the successfull passing of the Bill, the All Indian Football Federation (AIFF) received a key advice, and held a brief meeting with the senior members to discuss the future of Indian football, particularly the Indian Super League (IPL). Amidst this, the Supreme Court has approached the Supreme Court asking for clarity on ISL's future structure.
The future of the ISL still remains uncertain and unclear after the Indian footballing league hasn't reached an agreement with the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), thus bringing a sudden halt ahead of the 2025-26 season. This is an extensive crisis faced by Indian football as there is no clear plan on what is to be done next to resolve the situation, thus bringing the matter in front of the Supreme Court.
The hearing proceeded in Hon'ble Supreme Court this morning: AIFF
In a statement published by the AIFF on their social media handles, it stated that, “While a decision on the date of mentioning was being contemplated, the Amicus Curiae himself sent a communication stating that he would mention the AIFF matter, and thus, the hearing proceeded in the Hon'ble Supreme Court this morning. The AIFF Senior Counsel appeared and made verbal submissions on certain matters, to which, the Hon'ble Supreme Court requested for written submissions from the parties prior to the next hearing on August 22."
All the stakeholders of the ISL are eagerly hoping for India's best football league to be back as their livelihoods are dependent on the same. The AIFF is working closely with the necessary parties in a legal manner for their voice to be heard in the Supreme Court.
