What a day! Action, drama, entertainment and lots of crores spent in Bengaluru on Saturday as the Day 1 of IPL 2022 mega auction proved to be one of the most astonishing days ever in history of Indian Premier League. After a scary incident involving auctioneer Hugh Edmeades who collapsed during the event, he was well attended by medical team and was fortunately fine. However, he was recommended to take rest and was eventually replaced by Charu Sharma for the remainder of day.

In the auction battle, there were some intense bidding wars for various players producing lot of exciting moments for the fans. Ravichandran Ashwin, who had a rather controversial incident with Jos Buttler in the tournament, is all set to unite with the English wicketkeeper batter at Rajasthan Royals. On the other hand, Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya (who had a huge fight in domestic cricket few months back) will represent the same franchise - Lucknow Super Giants - in the upcoming season.

Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player on Day 1 of IPL 2022 Mega Auction after he was picked up by Mumbai Indians, following an intense battle. Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar was the most expensive pacer as he was also signed by his former franchise - Chennai Super Kings. Among the overseas players, Wanindu Hasaranga (to RCB) and Nicholas Pooran (to SRH) turned out to be the mega signings.

Here is the list of few key players who went unsold: David Miller, Steve Smith, Suresh Raina, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, Matthew Wade, Wriddhiman Saha, Sam Billings, Umesh Yadav, Adil Rashid, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Imran Tahir, Adam Zampa, Amit Mishra, Sandeep Lamichhane.
It will be interesting to see if any of these above mentioned players return to mega auction on Day 2 and get a contract for IPL 2022. After an action-packed day, the event will resume at IST 12 noon on February 13 (Sunday).
