Amid the ongoing cricketing action, a bizarre mix-up took place this weekend in Chhattisgarh. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain, Rajat Patidar recently found himself in an unusual turn of events involving his old mobile number. What was initially a telecom matter, went onto spiral into an exciting story which forced the RCB batter run quick to the police for help.
A Chhattisgarh boy, named Manish Bisi, who resides in Madagaon village in Gariaband district, purchased a new SIM from a shop in late June. A week after setting up WhatsApp with a help of his friend Khemraj, he found profile picture of Rajat Patidar on it. While all was well until this time before he received two surprise calls from star cricketers.

In a surprising turn, the phone number which was reactivated after 90 days of being inactive, saw the Chhattisgarh local - Manish Bisi receive calls from star batter Virat Kohli and South Africa and RCB legend AB de Villiers. While the duo - Manish and Khemraj found humour, unaware of whose number it was, the RCB skipper himself approached Manish to reclaim his old number.
While the duo continued to remain skeptical of the incident, the RCB captain was left in disbelief before he approached the cops warning them, stating, “Okay I’ll send the cops”. However, the police was quick to take action in the matter as the approached the duo within minutes to mediate the conversation.
While the SIM card was taken into police’s hands, a Gariaband SP Nikhil Rakhecha clarified that the number was inactive for over six months and was re-allotted as per the telecom rules. “We have now returned the number to cricketer Rajat Patidar,” he said. On the other hand, Manish’s friend Khemraj described the experience to talk to Virat Kohli as a dream come true moment, “I got to speak to Kohli because of a wrong number. My life’s goal is complete.”
