During an exclusive interview with Star Sports, Shahid Afridi, the former Pakistan captain, gave a hilarious take on the fitness of the current players in the build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. When a question about the lack of aggression from modern cricketers was put forth to the 47-year-old, he gave a funny response with a straight face, calling them the generation growing up on McDonalds and KFC, two of the biggest fast food chains in the world.
The comment from the former T20 World Cup winner came during the INDO-PAK clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 alongside his former counterpart Yuvraj Singh. Moments later, the Indian legend had a swift retort for the fan, who had called out the fitness of the modern cricketer while agreeing with Shahid Afridi, stating that he shouldn’t be talking about such things, indirectly pointing out his appearance.

After his counterpart Shahid Afridi had alluded to the fitness of current players, Yuvraj Singh addressed the strained relationship of India and Pakistan at the political level by remarking, “India and Pakistan relationship is like miya-biwi (husband-wife). In the morning they quarrel and in the evening they eat together.” At the same time, the good rapport between Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi was there for everyone to see on camera.
Moreover, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, commented on the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 clash against India at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on February 23. He was quoted as saying, “We have a very good side and they have done well in recent times but the real task now is to not only win the Champions Trophy but also defeat our arch-rival, India in the upcoming match in Dubai. The entire nation stands behind them.”
Before that, Pakistan are currently playing the opening match of the tournament at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi against New Zealand.
