The highly-anticipated ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 is almost here, set to get underway from Wednesday, February 19 with hosts, Pakistan taking on New Zealand in the opening match at the National Stadium in Karachi. However, Rohit Sharma-led Team India will kickstart their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.

Ahead of their opener, the Indian team has so far participated in at least two training sessions. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, star Indian batter Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya were all seen gruelling in the nets, the Indian skipper also shared abrief moment with a local net bowler, who is helping India train in UAE.

Rohit Sharma hails local bowler Awais Ahmad as “class bowler”; heaps praise on latter’s inswinging delivery

The 37-year-old who regained his form in the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against England at home, was seen getting troubled by the local net bowler named Awais Ahmad. In a video shared by the local left-arm pacer on his Instagram handle, Rohit can be heard saying, "Class bowler. Aap humare joota… pair todne ki kosish kar rahe the inswinging yorker maar ke. Badiya bhai badiya (You were trying to break my leg. Great bowling).”

“Aap log humko yaha help kar rahe ho, bada acha laga, thank you (I'm grateful that you all helped us here in training)," Rohit also added. It is to be noted that Ahmas recently has a masterclass from veteran Pakistan bowler Mohammad Amir.

Watch Rohit Sharma take a cheeky dig at Awais Ahmad:

It is to be seen that Amir has troubled Rohit Sharma through their five international meetings in white-ball cricket. In 2017 Champions Trophy final, Amir dismissed the Indian batter, who managed 43 runs in 75 balls. In T20Is, Rohit has been dismissed by Amir twice in seven balls.
