The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 is heading towards its conclusion but there are three players who couldn’t win a spot in the team’s playing XI in Team India. Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Abhimanyu Easwaran are the names who have been warming the benches in all five games. Easwaran has played a lot of First-Class cricket for Bengal since December 2013. The right-handed batter has represented Bengal in 103 First-Class games in which he scored 7841 runs in 177 innings. Easwaran received his maiden call-up for India in 2022 but following that, 15 players have made their Test debut but he didn’t get a chance.

Easwaran’s father Ranganathan Easwaran seemed to have lost his patience after witnessing his son waiting for his Test debut for the last three years. In an interview with Times of India, he expressed how his son has displayed his diligence in domestic cricket for the last one year but didn’t get a chance to make his debut. "I'm not keeping a count of the number of days that Abhimanyu has been waiting for his Test debut. I am counting the years; it has been three years now. What is the job of a player? It is to score runs. He has done that. People said he didn't perform in two India A matches during the last tour of Australia and didn't get into the team, which is fair enough. But Karun Nair wasn't in the team during the period when Abhimanyu performed before the BGT. Karun wasn't picked for the Duleep Trophy or the Irani Trophy. Abhimanyu scored close to 864 runs if you consider the period from last year to the current year," said Easwaran’s father.

Ranganathan Easwaran targets BCCI for selecting IPL’s top performers in India’s Test Team

Ranganathan Easwaran also aimed at BCCI for giving chances to IPL’s top-performers in India’s Test team. He feels performances in Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy should be the criteria for Test selection. "My son looks a little depressed, but that is bound to happen. Some players jump the gun based on IPL performances which earn them a spot in the Test team. IPL performances should not be counted while selecting the team for the longest format. Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Irani Trophy should be the basis for Test selection," he added.

Easwaran was also a part of India A side, which took on England Lions for a couple of unofficial Tests before the start of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. In four innings, he smashed a couple of impressive fifties. In the first unofficial game in Canterbury, he scored eight and 68 while in the second match in Northampton, he smashed 11 and 80.
