The BCCI (Boards of Control for Cricket in India) is likely to announce the central contract list soon. Many players are likely to retain their contract while we might also see some new additions in the list. As per the reports by Cricbuzz, young opening batter Abhishek Sharma is expected to get his maiden BCCI contract. Along with him, other young players like Nitish Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy can also make an entry in the list.
Abhishek Sharma has shown great form in recent times and had a promising start to his international career. The left-hander has amassed 535 runs from 17 T20I matches played for India so far at a strike rate of 193.84 along with two hundred and two fifties. Along with that, he recently scored a fiery 141 runs against Punjab Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana, who made their debut last year are also in the mix to get included in the list, while Shreyas Iyer is likely to get back his contract after getting removed from the list last year.

The fans have been waiting for the announcement of the annual contract list by the BCCI for a while now. Before that, another shocking came that the board terminated the contract of assistant coach Abhishek. Speaking on this, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the few things are still being finalized and the update will be shared soon.
“Certain things are being finalised. You will receive a press note from BCCI in some days,” Saikia was quotes as saying by PTI. “Nayar, Dilip and Soham have been informed about it last week. The Indian board will not have any new appointee as of now," he further said.
