Neymar’s love for Barcelona hasn’t gone away, as the former PSG winger has commented on Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s Instagram post. Gavi scored as Barcelona managed to edge past Villarreal in a seven-goal thriller at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday, August 27.

Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) attacker Neymar was reportedly set for a blockbuster return to Barcelona after an injury-ridden season. The club had agreed to a deal, but Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez reportedly blocked the transfer, after which the attacker joined Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia. There seem to be no hard feelings, as it appears the Champions League winner is still following the Catalan club, as he left an encouraging comment under Gavi’s Instagram post after the Villareal game.

Gavi posted his celebration after his goal and captioned it with two heart emojis to which Neymar commented, “Crack 👏”. Sergino Dest, who left the club on loan to PSV Eindhoven, also left two fire emojis.

Talking about the game, 16-year-old Lamine Yamal was the star of the match as he assisted one and almost scored two. Barcelona made a dream start after Gavi and Frenkie De Jong scored two goals inside 15 minutes. However, the home team came back in stunning fashion and equalized in the first half. The start of the second half saw Villarreal take a lead via an Alex Baena goal, but two quick goals from Ferran Torres and Robert Lewandowski powered Xavi’s side to a 4-3 win.

Neymar, meanwhile, started training with Saudi side Al Hilal but has not made his debut owing to a minor injury. The Brazilian underwent the traditional initiation ceremony reserved for all newcomers at Al-Hilal as his new teammates extended a warm welcome to their new teammate. Al Hilal's next game is against Al Ittihad on September 1, and that may well be too early for the Brazilian. So we can expect the much-anticipated debut after the international break.
