Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey is the latest join the likes of New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson, as he will miss the upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, starting from Friday, April 11. Carey, who was roped in as a replacement player for the Islamabad United, will not travel to Pakistan due to his domestic commitments in Australia.
The tenth edition of of PSL is set to kickstart from Friday, April 11 with defending champions, Islamabad United taking on Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the season opener, the defending champions have been a massive blow with Carey withdrawing from the season due to domstic cricket commitments.
Alex Carey withdraws from PSL 2025; Rassie van der Dussen to join soon
Taking to X (formerly called Twitter), the Islamabad United confirmed this update. “Alex Carey will not be part of our campaign this season as his team has made it to the domestic final in Australia. We wish him the best,” the franchise confirmed in its statement.
They also added that Protean international, Rassie van der Dussen will join the side soon. “Meanwhile, Rassie van der Dussen will be joining our team soon,” the franchise stated. The South African’s inclusion will bolster islamabad United’s middle-order in the upcoming competition.
