Aljamain Sterling recently stated that his upcoming fight with Sean O’Malley at UFC 292 next weekend might be his last ever in the bantamweight division. The fighter said he wants to move up and dethrone Alex Volkanovski to become the World Featherweight champion. The 34-year-old also hinted in the past that his career might be coming to a close soon. Further, his latest decision to try and beat Volk as a featherweight may be to make sure he can retire without regrets having tried everything he wants to.

But first, he has to beat O’Malley, who is supremely confident in himself going into UFC 292. Calling O’Malley a mole rat, Sterling stated that he would send O’Malley packing back to his hole after he makes quick work of him in the ring. He commented he would like to go up to 145, beat Volk, defend the belt a few times, and retire.

He said, “I think [it could be my last at 135]. I think I go out there, dominate O'Malley the way I think I'm gonna dominate him, send that naked mole rat back to wherever he's from, the hole he crawled out of. We set our sights on Volkanovski. Go up to 145, cause some terror there. Win the belt, become champ-champ, and then from there, possibly defend the belt one or two times and maybe that's all she wrote for the MMA career.”
