Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu posted a strange tweet addressing commentator Sunil Gavaskar’s statement regarding batters’ coming in as impact players in IPL 2023. Gavaskar’s comments were made during the recent game between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings, where the 2008 champs registered a statement win with a margin of 32 runs.

After a great batting performance led by Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 77 in 43 balls which helped the Royals post a massive total of 202 runs. Chasing this target, CSK got off to a poor start and sent Ambati Rayudu as an impact player to increase the scoring rate. Unfortunately, the Hyderabad batter got out at the score of zero after just two balls.

Reacting to this wicket, Gavaskar was unhappy at Rayudu and his continued poor form in IPL 2023. While speaking on air, the Little Master talked about how batters coming in as impact players have struggled to get going as they haven’t fielded earlier in the game. Gavaskar believes that an impact player batter is not rhythm and hence they have failed to score runs.

Gavaskar said, "You got to field. You can't just come out to bat and start hitting the ball. You can't do that. We have seen that with Prithvi Shaw. He has just been coming out to bat without success. No fielding, no scoring. Rayudu is out for a second-ball duck."

After these comments, Ambati Rayudu took to Twitter and shared a post addressing the criticism directed towards him. In the tweet, Rayudu stated that ups and downs are part of sport but a positive attitude helps in navigating in these tough situations.

Rayudu’s tweet said, “In life and sport ups and downs are a constant part. We need to be positive and keeping working hard and things will turn around.. results are not always a measure of our effort. So always keeping smiling and enjoy the process.”
