The Indian men's 4x400m relay team clinched gold at the 19th Asian Games 2023 on Wednesday, October 4, in Hangzhou, the Republic of China. The team comprising of Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Rajesh Ramesh and Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi clocked a time of 3:01.58 for a top-podium finish. The Indian athletes made it to the finale by clocking the fastest time of 3:03.81 minutes in the continental showpiece.

Muhammad Anas began with a reaction time of 0.166s from the start but ended at fifth spot during the first leg. However, Amoj Jacob helped India take on the lead in second leg, which Muhammad Ajmal extended in the third leg. 

Qatar's Bassem Hemeida, who was trailing behind Rajesh Ramesh with a minimal margin tried his best to put plenty of pressure on the Indian. However, Ramesh kept his pace and extended his side's dominance beyond the finishing line and got his side secure the top spot on the podium. 

While Qatar finished second, it were the Sri Lankans who took home a bronze after finishing third. At the end of Wednesday, India is ranked fourth on the medal tally with 18 golds, 31 silvers and 32 bronze medals to their name.
