Marcus Rashford has become part of Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United. The striker will join the side until the end of the Premier League 2024-25 edition, with the buy option included in the contract. Both illustrious clubs announced the news of the much-awaited deal on Sunday. The past few weeks were difficult for the United striker after he faced a snub at Old Trafford. According to reports, Villa will cover 75 percent of Rashford’s salary.
Villa’s financial commitment highlights the club’s keen interest in the star English player. The veteran English player is Villa’s one of three prominent buys that include Dutch striker Donyell Mallen from Borussia Dortmund and Andres Garcia from Levante as well. After the completion of the deal, he expressed gratitude towards United for making his move to the new club smooth.
“I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan deal happen...I was lucky to have a few clubs approach me but Aston Villa was an easy decision - I really admire the way that Aston Villa have been playing this season, and the managers' ambitions,” said Rashford.
A distinguished stint with Manchester United concludes with drama
Rashford, who has shown up in 60 international games for England, joined United’s senior side in 2016. During his stint with the most successful Premier League club, he notched up 138 goals in 426 matches. He was also an integral part of the team that won the Europa Cup, a couple of FA cups, and two League trophies. Rashford hit the headlines in December following his comment that he was ready to take a new challenge in his career.
After the 27-year-old’s remark, United’s manager Ruben Amorim displayed furore and questioned the forward’s work efficiency. Amorim also defended his decision of excluding Rashford team XI for the game against Fulham that went in United’s favour.
