Aston Villa are reportedly considering the option to sign Barcelona and Spanish striker Ferran Torres for a fee in excess of £42 million in the upcoming summer transfer window. The 25-year-old, who is currently ruled out of the rest of the season due to undergoing emergency surgery for appendicitis earlier this week, has been a part of the Premier League with Manchester City, but it’s his recent form for Barcelona in all competitions, which has caught the eye of many in the transfer market.

In the 2024-25 season, Ferran Torres has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 45 matches in all competitions. The Spaniard got his name on the scoresheet in the final of the Copa del Rey against arch-rivals Real Madrid last month, helping Barcelona win the title with a 3-2 scoreline, and it was just last week when he provided three assists in the 4-3 La Liga win over the same opponents.

Aston Villa could sign Ferran Torres if they are unable to get Marcus Rashford on full-time contract

Just before Barcelona secured the La Liga title earlier this week with a win over city rivals Espanyol 2-0, Ferran Torres had to get surgery done on his appendicitis, which is why he missed out on playing in the contest. Amid all that, a report from Birmingham Mail has claimed that the Spaniard is strongly linked with Aston Villa for a big money move, which would lessen the financial constraints of Barcelona somewhat.

At the same time, it is reported multiple times that Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford, who is currently playing for Aston Villa on loan, is interested in signing for Barcelona, while the Catalan giants aren’t adverse to the potential move either. If the Spanish club decides to pursue the England international in the summer, then they might just allow Ferran Torres to join the West Midlands club.
