Kevin De Bruyne is set to depart from Manchester City at the end of the current season, bringing a glorious legacy at the club to an end. At 33-years of age, De Bruyne still has a couple of years of quality football left in him and top clubs across the world recognize this and have thereby been linked to the Belgian midfielder ever since the news of his departure came out. The very first reports that came out suggested that MLS outfit Chicago Fire held discovery rights for De Bruyne and were looking to sign the midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.

There were many other clubs like Cesc Fabregas’s Como, Inter Miami and Chelsea who were reportedly looking to offer a deal to De Bruyne. However recent reports now state that none of these have actively contacted De Bruyne’s representatives over a deal. However, there was development around Aston Villa, who was said to have an internal meeting, discussing the potential free transfer of the midfield maestro. Villa have been enjoying a fabulous season under Unai Emery and the Spanish manager could consider bringing De Bruyne on board to further strengthen his squad.

De Bruyne has last shot at silverware with Manchester City in FA Cup semi-final tomorrow

Manchester City have an opportunity to give a fitting farewell to their iconic midfielder by winning a trophy in De Bruyne’s last season at the club. While the Premier League remains out of question along with an early exit from the Champions League, the only piece of silverware that City are currently fighting for is the FA Cup. The Cityzens can inch closer to the title with a win over Nottingham Forest in a match scheduled for Sunday, April 27.

City are taking on Forest in the FA Cup semi-final tomorrow at the City Ground and will look to give their best performance in order to get closer to the title. Their recent outing against Nottingham Forest was rather forgettable as they lost 1-0 but Guardiola will hope that his team turns the tide and produces a good result against Nottingham.
